Turton and Waring guide Minch to 10 wicket win over Uley

Minchinhampton 1st XI hosted Uley on Saturday on an overcast day at Stuart Playing Fields. Captain Pete Wallis lost the toss and was asked to bowl on a green Minch wicket. The openers T  & D Williams were patient but struggled to get the ball away. Veteran John Turton struck first with T.Williams falling LBW for 11. Pete Wallis waded in removing D.Williams for 2 and when Tutton fell for a duck again bowled by Wallis Uley were in trouble. No 3 Ben Ward was putting anything slightly loose to the boundary but simply had no batting partners and had to try it all on his own, a fine 58 from Ward including 4 sixes. But Jaime Waring with 3 for 18, Turton 4 for 26 and a wicket for Dave Gordon wrapped things up, Uley all out for 81. The reply by Minch was quick and ruthless. Alex Waring and the returning Rich Scott batted sensibly and made light work of the low total. Waring reached 53no with 2 sixes and Scott (24no) inside 14 overs and an emphatic 10 wicket win for Minch.
