Minch 2 XI entertained Cam on a perfect day for cricket. Minch won the toss and elected to field. A brave choice with initially only 10 men and no designated keeper until 3! Jack Cartledge stood in and kept superbly. Minch kept it very tight for the first 20 restricting cam to 30 for 1. With Matt Richings taking 1 for 15 from 10 and Tom Shearman 0 for 10 from 10 The introduction of Justin Hodges and debutant Harvey Cartledge 2-21 saw chances coming almost every over as cam looked to up the ante. Harvey taking two wicket to ensure Minch stayed on top. Then came the youthful duo of Ben Pitman and Jack Cartledge who ripped through the cam middle order and tail. Cartledge taking 4 for 24 in a brilliant display of left arm swing bowling. Ably supported but excellent control of line and length from Pitman 1-12 to bowl cam out for 121.
Minch’s reply started slowly with an all to familiar much collapse seeing 3 wickets fall cheaply. Jack Cartledge again showed his talents by hitting a brisk 26 that swung the game back Minch’s way. John Creedon doggedly worked his way to a 56* supported by Matt Richings 20 and Henry Auster 9. Minch chased down the target with overs to spare. All in all it was a brilliant game of cricket! With the great contributions that the Minchampton youth players made the future is bright!
Man of the Match was Jack Cartledge for his sterling all round performance.
