Minchinhampton 1st XI hosted Slimbridge 1st XI on a warm summers day at Stuart Playing Fields. Captain Pete Wallis lost the toss but got exactly what he wanted and a bat first for Minch on a good looking Minch track and a bolstered batting line up for Minch following 2 disappointing defeats previously.

Openers Pat Garschagen and Richard Scott set off quickly and Scott looked in particular good form with some crunching cover drives. At 53 for 0 off the first 10 Scott looked to push things along but was bowled by Williams who went on to get 4 wickets in the innings. Garschagen once again showed his power as he has done in the T20 games this season, but a 2nd consecutive run out was on the cards and after reaching 57 he pushed 1 to mid-wicket only to be stranded and easily run out. Simon Penn hit a short sharp 15 and Alex Waring came in at 5 and dispatched a quick fire 23. Ross Britton however continued his good form with the bat and hit a very fine 38, ably supported by 19 from Will Price and a quickfire 24 from Jaime Waring. Minch rattled along at 6 and over and reached 240 all out off 39 overs, a great effort with the top 7 all contributing.

In reply Peter Wallis led from the front, a wicket with his 3rd ball removing skipper Stayte for a duck. Bill Church dug in at the other end but simply couldn’t get the ball away as the combination of the swing and bounce of Wallis and veteran John Turton with his slow left arm variations were once again a tricky combination for Slimbridge. No batsmen could find runs and Minch’s 2nd change bowling does not offer any relief as the pacey Josh Taylor had batsmen moving around the crease and the wide range of variation from Jaime Waring accounted for 2 wickets. Williams top scored with a short sharp 15 but the target was too high for Slimbridge as the could only reach 60 all out. Turton 3 for 15 and Taylor 3 for 14 the pick of the bowling as Minch recorded a much needed win to get their season back on track.
