Minchinhampton CC have taken the regrettable decision to withdraw from the SDCA Senior KO Cup competition.

The club was due to play Painswick in the semi-final this Tuesday however we have taken a decision to step away from the competition at this stage.  The club was informed by the competition organiser last week that we had broken the rules by fielding ineligible players in the previous rounds.

The club and it’s players feel that in light of this it would be unsporting of us to continue any further in the competition.  We would like to point out that at the time we did not realise that we were in breach of the competitions rules on the fielding of overseas players and, had we known, would not have fielded the player in question.

However, we believe we would not be acting in the spirit of the game if we were to continue with the knowledge that we have gained an unfair advantage in previous rounds.
