Minchinhampton visited the picturesque Uley on a scorching hot day after a tricky week of team selection with mass unavailability. Skipper Pete Wallis won the toss and, despite the heat, chose to bowl on a grassy wicket and keen to maximise points in this top vs bottom of the table clash.
Wallis struck first, clean bowling the Uley opener, and James Priest from the other end bowled with good pace. Jaime Waring entered the attack and removed skipper Williams LBW in his 1st over. Uley, however, were in obstinate mood and were not ready to be rolled over. Minch were being very economical but struggled to take wickets. John Turton tried to entice Uley out of their defensive mindset and even the slow off breaks of Alex Waring could not tempt Uley into rash shots. After 40 overs of hard work in the field Uley amassed just 90 runs for 7 wickets, Priest, Wallis and Turton taking 2 wickets each. Mills top scoring with 25.  Hampton perhaps a little disappointed not to have bowled out their opposition.

In reply Minch lost opener Alex Waring LBW for a duck in the first over. Priest went in at 3 and showed great attacking intent, smacking the ball to all parts.  The gritty Dave Gordon, who is in good form, carried his bat for a very well payed 38 not out.  He was well backed up Jaime Waring with a quick fire 18 not out.  Minch cruised to victory in 12 overs for the loss of just 2 wickets and remain top of the table.
