2nd XI – Captain Ben Pitmans thoughts on May
A great start for the boys, with 4 wins from 4! Our first game saw us take on a youthful Hardwicke and with new recruit Benoy and the returning Will Fortune, Andy and Will Naish in the side confidence was high..even if we did play with 10 men! A great win by over 150 runs is just what we needed. 2nd up saw us face Stroud away in a low scoring game. The sprightly Ron Birch took 3 fine wickets on debut and bowled Stroud out for 85. At 8 for 4 we were struggling but the experienced duo of Simon Penn and Benoy Ittyavirah saw us home. In game 3 we faced a couple of ex Minch players and thankfully secured our 3rd straight win. After my career best 7 wickets for 38 we chased 144 and made light work of it, thanks largely to Matt Hole with a brilliant 62 including 8 fours and 3 sixes and another great knock of 45 from Benoy. A quick note to say hopefully a speedy recovery to Harvey Cartledge who always helps out if we are short, but he managed to damage his finger badly against Chalford… hope he gets back soon! Last Saturday saw the great start to the season continue as we comfortably ran out winners against Frampton, Tom Richings scoring 63 not out to steer us home. Let’s keep this run going, remember it is only possible if you make yourselves available!
