Ten out of Ten for the 2s!

On a breezy summers day in Chalford, Ben Pitman lost another toss and Chalford decided to bat.

Skipper Ben led from the front making the breakthrough when Ron Birch held on to an excellent catch at fine Leg, Ben then held a caught and bowled to get rid of the dangerous Townsend for 0. Alan Venn then nipped in bowling Lingard, reducing Chalford to 21 for 3 and continuing on, finishing another tidy spell with 1 for 15 off 7 overs.

Minchinhampton kept taking wickets with first change bowlers Marcus Cole and Nick Hitchcroft both bowling well and both getting wickets. Marcus eventually trapped danger-man Tuttle, with Rich Scott taking an excellent catch in a well-placed gully for 37. Pitman continued to take wickets finishing with 3 for 15

Chris Davies & Ron Birch took the pace off the ball and Chalford struggled to get them away as they both bowled well. John Creedon took 2 catches (one off Birch) and a swift run out to get rid of Gordon Winder. Eventually Chalford were bowled out for 91 in the penultimate over when Jack Cartledge re-arranged the stumps. The score looked on the low side on a good wicket.

Minchinhampton in reply soon lost their first wicket with just 13 runs on the board, when Scott was out for a swift 9 being trapped LBW to Winder.

Tom Richings (34) joined John Creedon (23) and they steadily built the innings, John playing really well off his legs and Tom scoring powerfully through Mid-on and square of the wicket.  Playing sensibly they were able to see Minch home, assisted by a number of Wide’s (24 in total). Tom eventually seeing Minchinhampton home with over 20 overs to spare.

A competitive game which was well won by Minchinhampton to go 10 wins from 10 games this season.
