12 games into the 2015 season and it’s fair to say it has been up and down for the 1s. Pleasingly we’ve had just 1 cancellation due to weather this year, which must be the first for many years. But the onfield performances from the 1sts have been a real mixed bag. The home win vs Charlton Kings was probably our most comprehensive this season, Phil Stephens 100 was a very fine knock. Beating Cheltenham, then Ruardean Hill and securing 3 wins in a row and all seemed rosy. But since then we’ve gone LWLLW. Langford away was a win off the back of a very fine bowling and fielding performance, but Cirencester was a poor show in the batting dept. If we’ve had an issue this year its been in batting, our lads seems to be getting starts but not going on. Our bowling has been superb (Chalford at home aside!) and the bowlers should be commended for their efforts. If only we could get out batting to click we could still do well, given the league is so tight. It was nice to see such a good win against table toppers Haresfield on Saturday, again our bowling unit winning us the game. A big thanks to Jon Ablett and Pete Wallis for handling my captaincy duties the past 2 weeks, it’s extremely annoying to be watching and not contributing, but fingers crossed I’m back soon. Still 4 games to go, let’s build on a great performance last week lads.
