2ndXI CAPTAIN’S LOG…04.08.2015

What a brilliant season the 2’s have had so far. 11 games won from 11 played, with taking maximum points from virtually every game. It has been a team which has been a pleasure to captain. Captaining a winning side is very easy! I think our best performance was early into the season against Chalford. For me personally, it was the toughest top order we have faced this year and once we got through that, we wrapped up the tail very quickly. We were set a target of 145, and chased it down very quickly after losing two early wickets. Matt Hole hit his maiden fifty with a 66 not out before typically retiring with work. 6 weeks later was the memorable game of Hawkesbury away where Simon Penn hit a staggering 183 not out with coming in at number 4. We then had them 7-6 in the second innings! Our batting this year has been particularly pleasing with everyone high in the order getting a few big knocks and not seeing the collapses that we used to see. Also, our bowling unit has been fantastic with bowling the opposition out the majority of the time and also restricting their score. In this side everybody offers something, either with the bat or with the ball, and a few of them can do both. With 4 games left in the season we have an obvious target which is to go unbeaten. That would be fantastic, so lets keep this great run going boys.
