The U11s – A Great Season
The cold weather at the start of the season has been shrugged off by Minchinhampton’s U11s squad. Their enthusiasm and improvement during training evenings has resulted in some excellent all round match performances.
With a squad of 21 players the club decided to concentrate on giving all the boys the same opportunity to play in high quality matches, rotating players through the season. With early season matches presenting the opposition high numbers of wides, it has been great to see everyone’s bowling accuracy come on in leaps and bounds.
The boys have performed with great concentration in the field, and whilst some more catching practice is needed, their fielding has been spot on, with some notable run outs, including brilliant throws from the outfield to hit the stumps.
In our latest matches, runs have increasingly come from the bat (rather than just from opposition wides!) and with less wickets. An outstanding win against Cam saw the team score 128-3. All in 16 overs. Minch First XI – look out!

U9s – Fun & Games
The U9s have had very healthy numbers at training on Wednesday evenings and despite a few washouts along the way have enjoyed lots of fun and games so far this season.
With our new Australian coach Leah Morrison creating a fun and enjoyable atmosphere for all the players we have seen lots of improvements throughout the season. What has been particularly rewarding has been to see the number of quite young players (some 6 and 7 years old) getting involved with the game and learning new skills.
The U9s have been rather unfortunate with the weather this year with all but one of their festivals being cancelled due to the wet stuff. However, Leah was delighted with the attitude and performance of the 9 boys she took to Stroud last Sunday morning. They played really well, winning two out of their three matches and playing “like true champions” to quote the coach!
We must also take this opportunity to thank both of our youth team sponsors:
