Team Captain Billy Payne, won the toss and decided to set the pace and bat first. Tom Dangerfield opened the batting with a commendable couple of 4s in the first over. Partnered by Charlie Hardaker who made 28 off 4 overs – this was Minch’s top scoring batting pair for the evening. The runs kept coming, with each batsman getting into double figures and the team Captain reaching 20 with 3 fours off the last over – final score 178.
Stroud started admirably with the bat, until fast bowler Harry Cowen took the ball – taking 4 for as many runs. Dylan Hartley and Teifon Johnson took a couple of athletic catches. Alfie Nicholls’ accuracy with the ball kept Stroud’s run rate down.
The outstanding performance of the evening though, came from James (razor) Sharpe – keeping wicket for the first time.
Minch won by 53 runs.
