U13s Cup Win

Minch CC’s newley formed U13s, with only one training session under their belt welcomed a Frampton 11 for the first Cup game of the season.

Dan Kettle, Captain for the day, won the toss and put the visitors into bat.
Early wickets from Joseph Osborn and Dan gave Minch the early momentum and restricted the visitors run rate, which was only being bolstered by a few stay bowls and overthrows.  Alfie Nichols, player of the season for the U11s last season took a further wicket, before Billy Payne with an athletic diving catch caught Frampton’s batting stalwart in the final over, off a leg side bowl from Dylan Hartley.
Frampton finished their 16 over innings with 64 for 7.
Minch took to the field with Harry Finn and Dan opening the batting, but with early losses of the openers along with Joseph, it was left to Will Hodges and Oli Crosley to bolster the run rate with a number of well taken fours.
Frampton were in the ascendancy and their bowling was proving to be both consistent and accurate.  It was therefore up to the middle order pairings of Joseph and Billy Payne and then Alfie and Charlie Hardaker to steady the ship by protecting the wicket whilst concentrating on taking the singles at every opportunity.  Slowly the momentum shifted in our favour – until it was left to the final pairing of Dylan and new boy Rafferty Hooke to clinch victory with a four from each of them in the penultimate over.  A thrilling finale to a well fought and evenly balanced opening Cup game.
Minch won with 8 balls to spare.
