Cricketers ‘crowning’ the new season!

Cricketers representing Minchinhampton Cricket Club will be performing this coming summer wearing shirts branded with the logo of the town’s recently re-opened public house and restaurant, The Crown.

Having undergone a major re-furbishment by its owner The Lucky Onion Group, The Crown has re-established itself as the focal point in the town square and High Street and in support of the local community has agreed to support the town’s cricket club.

“It’s a tremendous gesture and we will do our best to repay their generous support,” says ‘MCC’ Chairman Mike Waring.

“While we always try to be competitive on the field, we also put a lot of effort into retaining our family club ethic,” adds Mike.

Richard Terry, General Manager of The Crown supports these sentiments; “The Crown team are absolutely delighted to be sponsoring Minchinhampton Cricket Club this season. We look forward to welcoming the team and its fans to celebrate at the pub and enjoy some of the most interesting independent real ales and craft beers in the country. We look forward to a wonderful cricket season ahead and an even more successful partnership with our friends at Minchinhampton Cricket Club”

Minchinhampton CC play in the Gloucestershire County League and the Stroud District League.  They also run a thriving youth section with cricketers of the future starting to learn the basics from as young as 8 years old.

“We are planning a game against The Crown regulars and will be holding our annual club dinner and committee meetings in The Crown,” continues Minch’s Chairman.

The Club play at Stuart Field, just a decent throw from the town centre and throughout the summer there is a game every Saturday. The Club will be presenting Richard Terry with a framed version of the new shirt in advance of what both parties hope will be a glorious and rewarding summer!
