The “Kamala” to Justin’s “Joe”, John Hole is Minchinhampton CC’s Vice Chairman and a crucial contributor to club affairs at the ground and beyond. John is very active in keeping our wider supporting community and Vice Presidents in touch with club activity, whilst also helping in ground preparation and fathering a first XI captain!
John was a keen sportsman in his early years, playing both cricket and football before moving to the village with his young family 27 years ago. When his son Matt was 9, John got involved in youth cricket and ended up running the team through to under-15 level. This cohort of youngsters were obviously hugely inspired by John’s leadership as five of the group still play for the club to this day! His son Matt Hole completed a fantastic three-year tenure as 1st XI skipper in 2020 raising a (metaphorical) trophy in the GCCL B East League.
John has always enjoyed the friendly nature of MCC fostered through all age groups, into the seniors. In recent years, John has enjoyed seeing the club progress in terms of playing standard and facilities whilst still retaining the warm and welcoming atmosphere. He has delighted in seeing the young cricketers who started with a soft ball all those years ago now being important members of a successful senior squad.
