Ben Pitman

‘Captain Fantastic’

Minch two's 2013 final

Name: Ben Pitman

Age: 19

Nickname: Usually very simple like Benny or Pitters if you’re Sherms!
Bowling style: Right-arm medium-fast
Batting position: 11 until the arrival of Ron Birch and now up to the dizzy heights of 10!
Batting style: Hmm defensive?
Favourite fielding position: Mid-off
Highest score: 17*
Best figures: 7-38
What is your most memorable game of cricket you’ve ever played and why?: I’ve got a few! Making my debut for the firsts around 4 years ago now and bowling their opening batsman in my first over! We also won the game. The T20 game against Stroud was also great as we beat a side who were miles above us, although it was a shame what happened afterwards. Finally, taking my first five wicket haul when I got my best figures of 7-38 against Chalford this season.
Who is your favourite cricketer?: I first starting watching cricket in the memorable 2005 ashes series so I think it would have to be Andrew Flintoff for his personality.
If you could change one thing about the game what would it be?: KP back in the England side!
What would be your perfect day of cricket?: Big wins for both sides on a sunny afternoon with myself taking a five for.
What is your favourite sporting film?: Cool Runnings!
Why Minch CC?: I decided to come to a training session when I was about 9 as all of my mates were playing and since then I haven’t looked back! Really well organised club though and there is a lot to be excited about as this club has a very bright future.
