Minch visited bottom side Wickwar on a boiling hot afternoon and secured another emphatic win.
After a frustrating day away at Langford last week with Minch in such a good position before rain came, there was no chance of weather interfering this week. Skipper Pete Wallis lost the toss and was asked to bowl. But in just the 2nd over a ball from the slow left arm of John Turton barely got off the ground & the opportunity to bowl looked a good one. Turton really applied early pressure with another two wickets, clean bowling Fishley for a duck and Eden for 12. Jaime Waring at the other end had two wickets in two balls as Wickwar struggled. The low slow wicket was not helping the batsmen & only captain Hughes with 24 got himself in before a big mix up led to a run out. Matt Richings again staked a claim for a regular 1st team spot with 3 wkts at the end for just 10 runs as Minch skittled the opposition for just 76, Nick Hitchcroft also picking up a wicket along the way.
In reply openers Alex Waring and Dave Gordon saw Minch to 20 without loss. However opener Fishley was bowling with good pace and the indifferent bounce started to cause Minch some problems. Waring went bowled and Gordon followed LBW. When both of last weeks run scorers Ross Britton and Jon Ablett departed without scoring, Minch were wobbling on 24 for 4, Fishley taking all 4 wickets. However, steady and calm batting, despite pressure around the bat, by Tom Richings (21no) and Jaime Waring (32no) guided Minch home to the low total. Any bad ball was put away and despite some sharp turn on the crumbling wicket, Minch reached the target in 22 overs for a 6 wicket win.
